Ewing 3rd Annual Fall Spin a “Great Ride”

On Saturday, September 23, 2017, residents from Ewing and other Mercer County townships enjoyed glorious weather and a great ride during the Ewing Green Team’s 3rd Annual Fall Spin. Nearly 50 riders, including a team from the Ewing Police Department, participated in the bike event that began and ended at Campus Town.  Mayor Bert Steinmann kicked off the ride at the college’s Campus Town. Bikers had the option of a short 8-mile tour of Ewing neighborhoods, or a longer, 18-mile tour. Upon completion of the ride, bikers were invited over to Community Fest to join in with the fun and festivities that were already underway.

The theme for this year’s ride, “Bike Riding for a Healthier You” was organized in part, to highlight September as Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, and all proceeds from the event were donated to the American Cancer Society’s Run for Dad event in support of prostate cancer awareness and research.

According to EGT Member and Bike Ride Coordinator, Garry Keel, “Each year we continue to refine the event so that participants enjoy the day, get a little exercise and meet new folks. Feedback from this year’s participants indicated that the most enjoyable part was meeting their neighbors and seeing different parts of the township.  We are grateful to our business sponsors: RJ’s Café, Philly Pretzel Factory, and Knapp’s Cyclery, as well as the Ewing Recreation Department, for their support of this year’s event. And we’ve already begun planning for next year. We welcome anyone interested in helping us plan the 2018 Fall Spin.”

Many thanks to EGT member Mark Wetherbee for the photos.
