Planning Session For Management of the 2013 Ewing Community Gardens

Spring will be here before you know it and it’s not too early to plan for the 2013 Ewing Community Gardens at Whitehead Road Extension.  At the top of the agenda is suggesting guidelines for management of the site to the Township for approval.    These rules will provide guidelines for proper gardening etiquette for the site and detail exactly what is expected from all gardeners.

Suggested rules from the American Community Gardening Association have been incorporated into a survey posted on our new Survey page.  All participants should first complete the survey .  This will enable us to tabulate suggestions and discover important issues from prior plot holders and propose any solutions needed.  Previous plot holders are welcome and their feedback would be greatly valued.

All are welcome.

The 2nd meeting of the Ewing Community Gardens Group will be held this Wednesday, November 14th from 7 – 9 p.m. at the Ewing Senior and Community Center, 999 Lower Ferry Road in the Boardroom.

  • Begin planning for the three areas of interest to date:
    • Gardening education – Possible topics

Composting and Winterizing Demo on Nov 3rd Canceled

The Composting and Winterizing Your Garden Demonstration that was to be held this coming Saturday, November 3rd from 10 – noon has been canceled because of the impact of Sandy.

The composting session will be rescheduled.

Ewing Residents Are Invited to an Organizational Meeting of Ewing’s Community Gardeners for the 2013 Gardening Season

The Ewing Green Team will be hosting an organizational meeting for the 2013 gardening season in collaboration with the Ewing Seniors.    Residents interested in expanding and improving opportunities for community gardening in Ewing are invited to attend.

Topics to be discussed include:

  • Introductions
  • Are there sufficient number of plots available?
  • Gardening at Whitehead Road – issues?
  • Additional Gardens Required in Ewing?
  • Senior/Demonstration Garden at the ESCC
  • Setting up a Community Garden Organization
  • Events Calendar – composting demo and November meeting.

Please join us and bring a gardening friend.
